Privacy Policy

Mark and Maker is a free jewelry maker's mark identifier from Silver Queen Studio. This page explains what information the website and the mobile app handle, and why. There are no accounts, no advertising and no analytics trackers.
Photos you scan
When you scan a photo of a mark, the photo is sent over an encrypted connection to our server and on to Anthropic, the company that provides the AI that reads the stamp. We do not save your photo on our servers. Anthropic handles it under its own terms and privacy policy. Please do not photograph anything other than the mark itself, such as people or documents.
Marks you send us
If you use "Add a mark", we receive the photo, the maker's name, any notes you write, and your email address if you choose to give one. They are emailed to us so we can review them. We keep them only as long as we need to review and publish them. If we publish a mark, the photo and the maker information may appear on the site and app. We never publish your email address, and we use it only to reply to you.
What you type
Letters or descriptions you type to search are sent to our server to find matching makers. They are not linked to your name or account.
Technical information
Our hosting provider, Render, keeps standard server logs, which include your IP address and the time of each request. We also count scans per visitor address for a short time, in memory only, to limit abuse and keep costs predictable. The website loads its fonts from Google Fonts, so Google may see your IP address when a page loads.
Other sites
Links to Silver Queen Studio and its products open our online shop, which has its own privacy policy. Links from this site include a tag so the shop can see that a visit came from Mark and Maker.
Children
This site and app are not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect their information.
Your choices
To ask us to delete a mark or email address you sent, or to ask anything about this policy, write to inquiry@silverqueenstudio.com.
Changes
If this policy changes, we will update the date at the top of this page.
